“LOOK AT ME”

Heroes-Gallagher&Gualy RGB

For all of us who care about justice and equity and compassion, things were rough long before Trump ever took office. But these past two years, these past two weeks in particular, have been crushing.
I keep coming back to these two survivors who demanded of Jeff Flake (and all the men he represents) to “LOOK AT ME.” I cried listening to them. Their courage shocked me and created a little space to breathe beneath the weight of it all. Thank you, Marie Gallagher and Ana Maria Archila Gualy. I keep going because of people like you. Thank you.

WE’VE GOT THIS

Storm sm

Finally! I started this comic last season and finally had a chance to finish it. I love The Storm so much. Do you know that they are ONE GAME away from winning the championship? It’s true. You can watch them take on the Mystics (broadcast, as they will play in DC) THIS WEDNESDAY.

ALSO, last week I was working on this comic at the playground after school. Two first-grade girls came over and asked what I was doing. After I told them, they described how they had gone to a Storm game together earlier in the season. Then they asked if they could help with the comic. Um, YES PLEASE! So, without further ado, here are their panels about the Storm vs the Connecticut Sun:

THE LAST REIGN FC COMIC: RAPINOE

Rapinoe_sm

Thanks to all of you who read these player comics – it was such a dream to make them. It seems fitting to end this series with the woman who made me a fan of the National Women’s Soccer League in the first place.

Also, Rapinoe’s hometown of Redding, California was recently devastated by the Carr Fire. If you’re in a position to do so, please consider donating to her recovery fundraiser:  https://www.facebook.com/donate/1910197352373399/.
